LVJBS
Members’ Meeting Minutes—APRIL 6,
2010
President’s Report (Greg):
“Alright, it’s 7:34 & we’ll
get this thing started!”
Not much for the President’s report. A recent
how-to email was sent to the Yahoo! Group in regards
to how the bands are booked for those who aren’t
aware. Questions? Please ask or read the sent
email.
We have our local boys: MOKSHA, having their CD
release party on Friday, April 9th @ the House
of Blues. This event is $12. KID MEETS COUGAR
(keyboard & guitar duo) opens. Show starts
promptly @ 9pm, so don’t be late! JRoland
is now in charge of making sure the QUARTERLY
KREWES are taking charge of ‘their’
events. (For those who are new, we have created
4 quarterly events that are lead by a small group
of members. They choose the band, finds the venue,
date, volunteers, etc. The purpose: Four ‘free’
-for-members’ shows, a time for others to
be involved in the booking process, & an opportunity
to bring “your” chosen band for others
to hear/see.)
Vice President’s Report (Roland):
There are still 10 year-anniversary T-shirts available.
See Keith or an Officer for further assistance.
They’ll make “great early Xmas gifts,
birthday gifts, & even 4th of July gifts!”
Treasurer’s Report (Dan):
We finally received checks from the Hard Rock
Café for our JGB and moe. shows.
We have decided to help the E-String co-purchase
a new Sound System. (There was one at the E-String,
but it has recently been removed by its owner).
Pete, owner of E-String will pay $2,250 for their
share & the LVJBS will pay about $2,000. We
will share the PA with them. The LVJBS will have
no charge to rent it. On the dates that the E-String
hosts their own events, they will share the proceeds
with the LVJBS. If, by chance, the LVJBS or The
E-String decides to ‘buy it out’,
they can. The PA’s first use will be Saturday
(@ the MoonALice event). (**This agreement will
be created in a legal document, so there is no
confusion**)
PAY YOUR DUES!!! JSecretary’s Report (Jessica):
FYI: A letter was written to the Hard Rock Hotel’s
Management, after the Wasted Space’s Galactic
show, in regards to the rude, unprofessional treatment
shown to MANY of its customers, during the ticket/price
confusion (along with MANY other events hosted
there). A reply was later sent by the Executive
Assistant, thanking me for the information &
a promise to change the attitudes was also stated.
Mayor (Stella):
Color of the month: Periwinkle (she states as
fingers are pointed!)
Archive Committee (RJ):
“All secure, like a fine cigar!”

Olospo w/ DJ Logic & Sustainable Waves (Greg
was contacted by the Xingolati folks who are looking
to make a memorial-type event for one of their
friends) It is unknown if Ana-Sia (Bassnectar)
& possibly Michael Kang (SCI) will be on the
bill, as well. We will either help promote w/
some website help & venue search OR we can
make it an LVJBS presents show. They wanted to
play the weekend of High Sierra, but we recommended
they wait, since most of the local, music lovers
will be gone. (Greg will check the specifics,
request a late July date & we will discuss
it further at May’s LVJBS’ meeting.)
