Las Vegas Jam Band Society—Members’ Meeting
Minutes--FEBRUARY 2, 2010
Called to Order: 7:40PM
President’s Report (Greg):
“Let’s get the chatter-out everyone!”
(Mr. Serentsis flashes-back to his teaching
days.) J
Our
10-Year Anniversary show went well.
We had thought there was a mishap at the
door (missing money), but figured out it was the
75 comp’d seats, given through HouseSeats.com
(venues give free seats in exchange for bar sales,
etc.) that caused the concern.
Moksha
did an EXCELLENT job.
They were a “good fit” with their opening
set, which helped set the tone for the night!
Vice President’s Report (Roland):
Volunteers?
Step it up! Good job, Everyone.
Secretary’s Report (Jessica):
No business….Just thanks for a GREAT 10-year
Party! J
Treasurer’s Report (Dan):
We
made ‘some’ money for the NYE show.
JGB was a loss due to the last-minute rental
of an organ, extra funds given to Melvin Seals,
etc.
PAY YOUR 2010 DUES!!! J ($120 per person/year, $10/mo.,$150 per live-in couple/year).
Mayor’s Report (Stella): Color: Black & Gold
Looking
forward to a FUN weekend…..Cheese is back! J

CONTACTS/INTERESTS:
*U-Melt (from NYC) was interested in Sat.
4/3 (**Date
no longer good as of 2/3/10 email)
Possibly in the Fall.
*Big Head Todd & the Monsters were
interested in Thurs.-Sat. March 11-13.
The offer was sent by the HRC.
The members chose NOT to be involved with
this, due to the LVJBS’ involvement with the NEON
REVERB festival, JamBand Showcase night, Thurs.
3/11.
*Lubriphonic looking at end of May and/or
June (Saturday).
Group is concerned since we lost money
the last 2 times we had them play. Greg to send a split-door offer, and request
“May”, so it’s not too hot, nor too close to High
Sierra.
*Great American Taxi are interested in Sunday, March 7th. This is the same date as the Galactic show at
the House of Blues.
*Dark Star Orchestra are interested in Thursday, April 29th. Greg to put the offer in.
--------------------------------------------
OPEN FLOOR
*NEON
REVERB FESTIVAL
will be March 11-13.
James Woodbridge, creator, asked for LVJBS’
collaboration again for the THURSDAY night showcase. He understands and hopefully fixed the on-site
issues had last year.
The group suggested having LESS bands this
time, for time, since it’s a weeknight.
*Welcome
to new members and the band: AYALA.
They are willing to volunteer/donate/run
the sound equipment (their own), their time, trucks,
etc. for the THURSDAY night showcase. Other bands to include: Moksha, Who-Gas, & Tomorrow’s Bad Seeds
(Reggae from CA) who want to play 3/11. (check
them out at: myspace_TBS1)
*MacPodz
are interested in Sat., May 15th.
Check them out and let the group know what
you think…….CD’s handed out.
*Group
asked whatever happened to the CORNMEAL interest?
The dates fell through.
*Keith
C. & Julie created a NEW color-scheme for
the LVJBS logo. Check out Keith’s email from 2/2/10, and help
choose the color of the shirt and pre-order you
sizes!
*Another
thanks to Jim Duke for the AMAZING lighting for
NYE & JGB. Greg said that Jim makes us look better than
we are. Jim
replied with, “You guys give him the beautiful
canvas of energy!” (awwwwhhhh J)
