strip.

Thursday, April 26th: THE MOTHER HIPS @ the Hard

Upcoming NON-LVJBS shows:
Thursday, March 15th: UMPHREY’S McGEE @ the
Silverton. We were unsure why the band booked Las
Vegas without contacting the LVJBS. Greg sent an
email to the band, mentioning the LVJBS for future
use for a future gig. In lieu of advertising for
the Silverton, the LVJBS will be getting 40 tickets*
for this event. (*Lottery for 2012 paid members!
We will be using a random # generator to select
the comp-ticket-owners for future freebies thrown
our way!)
NON-LVJBS shows continued:
Saturday, February, 25th: THE BUDOS BAND @ Hard
Rock Hotel’s Body English.
Monday, March 12th: BELA FLECK & THE FLECKTONES
@ The Smith Center.
Friday, March 30th: THE PINK FLOYD EXPERIENCE @
The Smith Center.
UPDATES:--We had offers in for NEW MONSOON (March
16th) & later, PAPA GROWS FUNK. The bands wanted
more than our offer. We offered less, plus extra
food/drinks & they backed out.
--Welcome JFree (NOISE)! (Jeff also says he will
become an LVJBS member this year!) J The groups
think another collaboration (LVJBS & NOISE)
should happen! Since the March 16th date is now
open, possibly a St. Patty’s Day event (possibly
@ the HRC) could work! (Possibly Medusa Tango?)
More info TBD.
--Stella & JFree talked about our COMMUNITY
PROJECT for the month. The next project is ‘FOR
THE LOVE OF MUSIC EDUCATION.’ Jeff has some
REMO drum heads. We discussed having Mickey Hart
sign one of the drum heads & then we can ‘auction’
it off for some drum purchasing for some of our
members’ music programs at their local schools.
The group thinks it’s a GREAT idea! J Thanks,
JFree & Stella!
OPEN FLOOR:
*Welcome to Sheila, Jennifer, & Paul: www.SaveRedRock.com
Motto: “Respect the Canyon—Keep it Rural”
--Sheila shared the info regarding land/home developer,
Jim Rhodes’ plan to build on west Blue Diamond
Hill, near Red Rock Canyon’s scenic loop &
wanted to raise awareness. 2,664 acres if Blue Diamond
Hill was purchased by Rhodes. 850 acres are surrounded
by the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.
These acres were previously a functioning gypsum
mine—making the land geologically unstable.
CONCERNS: No more nighttime sky at Red Rock &
the lack of the natural Red Rock Canyon skyline
when looking westward. L
--The LVJBS are huge fans of Red Rock & wants
to help support the ‘Save Red Rock’
campaign by providing information to help Sheila
raise awareness at our future shows. (Greg decided
to have one of the recycled drum heads or other
instruments signed by Mickey Hart & raffle that
one off for the campaign. The group supported this
idea!!)
--Paul Citone (Paul Citone Photgraphy), a JamBander,
who noticed the lack of photos on our LVJBS website
and wondered if he can share his NOT-for-profit
photos of our future shows. At past shows, he has
been told that a ‘photo-pass’ is needed.
The group agrees that Paul’s love for photos
would be a great addition to our organization. (*Roland
mentioned, possibly teaming up with Ian Z. &
his awesome music reviews that are often posted
on Jam Band websites.)
*Social Media Committee Head: The group nominated
& voted for RICH COSTELLO.
*Greg has a signed guitar from the members of moe.
We will soon raffle that off for one of our projects!
