Las Vegas Jam Band Society November 2009 Members' Meeting Minutes
November 10 , 2009

Meeting Begins: 7:45PM
President’s Report (Greg):
“It’s going to be loud, so let’s get this thing started & over with!”
Nothing new to report, except the Production notes which will be reported in the Production minutes.
Vice President’s Report (Ian):
Funny story: When using the computers @ Festival 8, the last person using it before Ian was inquiring about the LVJBS. This person was a UNLV professor & didn’t know much about our local scene. Ian was able to give him more information about us.
Secretary’s Report (Jessica):
More volunteers needed for the CAP show this weekend. Please email besoljess@aol. com if you can help out. THANKS! J
Treasurer’s Report (Dan):
We have $ in the bank.
We lost under a grand on Lubriphonic.
We spent a little over $500 for Dark Star Orchestra. We had 340 paid. The new Hard Rock Café isn’t doing as well as planned, so we’ll see about future shows.
If NOMINATING/VOTING for 2010 OFFICERS, you must be a PAID, up to date, MEMBER.
Mayor’s Report (Skip):
“Recovery Red” **Get well soon, Mr. Mayor!
Production Report (Greg):
New Years’ Eve 2010 Event: Last week, an email was sent for members to vote on a 1st, 2nd, & 3rd choice. Results below:
Isabella won with 25pts.
Moksha next with 21 pts.
Delta Nove last with 13pts.
2 venues are reserved: The E-String & The Aruba.
Greg to contact Isabella and inquire about a price quote. Then, Greg will email the members to vote. We may have Moksha open for Isabella, depending on the price quote.

moe. is available FEB. 24-28, 2010.
JGB is available Jan. 23 or 24, 2010. (Sat. or Sun.) Group voted and preferred SATURDAY over Sunday. The Hard Rock Café would be the best choice option for this show, yet the HRC prefers our shows be held there on Sundays, so they can have a DJ on Saturdays. If HRC is not available for Saturdays, then The Aruba or The E-String is preferred.
**We did discuss having an LVJBS 10th Anniversary show, group discussed having this “party” on a SATURDAY only.
EOTO is available Thursday, Feb. 25th (This is SCI’s Michael Travis’ band). Group decided that they would like to see EOTO, if moe. is not happening.
DAVID GANS wants to do a house-concert. If any hosts are interested in using their home for this event, please contact Greg: lvsmojoe@yahoo. com for Mr. Gans contact info.
Reverend Payton’s Big Damn Band is available Jan. 27-31 (Wed.-Sun.). The group had positive response. Greg to find out the asking price.
JunoWhat? is available Feb. 23-25 (Tues.-Thurs. ). This band has Dominic from the Motet on Saxaphone. Group says it depends on moe. that same week. Maybe JunoWhat can open for Eoto, if that happens?
TRACORUM is available Late January, early February. Greg to contact for an asking price.
MOONALICE wants to play the Aruba. April 15-18 (Tues.-Sun.) . They are asking $700. Possibly making it a $4.20 ticket price? Greg to contact for more info.
OPEN FLOOR:
*NOMINATIONS FOR 2010 OFFICERS:
President: Greg
Vice President: Ian, RJ, & Roland
Secretary: Jessica
Treasurer: Dan
Mayor: Skip, Finkel, Stella, Frobi, Julie, & Tom.
*The acceptance of Nominations to happen soon. Only PAID members can vote at the December 2009 meeting.
*Roland says, “LVJBS is f-ing awesome!” Fabulous Las Vegas was representing Festival 8.
*Ian noticed the Trop/Pecos Cinema hosts $2 movies. Ian asked about a GD/Floyd/etc. movie as a fundraiser for the LVJBS. More info the come.
*Ian wants to create a travel-site (blog) for people to post info about cool places to hear music, attend, etc. when visiting other cities.
*Welcome N.O.I.S.E.’s Keith & Steve! They want to collaborate w/ the LVJBS again for their 3rd Anniversary show. This will be a MARDI-GRAS show. Dates: Thinking First Friday, Feb. 5th, or March 5th (which is kind of close to the possible moe. show). The event HAS to be prior to March 16th (Fat Tuesday). This event will have music, artists, & a Mardi-Gras theme. The group was in support of this!
*FYI that there are additional, cleaner motels, close to The Aruba. The Howard Johnson is a few buildings down (a bit pricier, though).
*Guest Speaker: A drunk guy @ the bar came over to our group & asked: “Why are illegal immigrants are allowed to work.?”
Our President’s response: “We don’t know.”
