Members’ Meeting Minutes—September 6, 2011

Meeting begins: 7:35PM
President’s Report (Greg): Just sent a “long-ass” email. There will be 2 more Quarter (free shows for members) events. The next, 3rd Quarter, will be THE HILLBENDERS, Sunday, Sept. 18th @ The E-String.
Vice President’s Report (Keith): Nothing to report…..has been a travellin’ fool.
Secretary’s Report (Jessica): The August minutes have not yet been posted. Roland and I both took notes (since it was the Board Meeting/LVJBS meeting), so we will soon compare and get them posted. Thanks for your patience.
Treasurer’s Report (Dan): We have liquid assets!
Production Report (Greg): Upcoming shows & interests:
*The Token Brass Band (recently played 8/29 at The Arts Factory). They asked for some promotion help. The LVJBS tries to use our website’s homepage for ‘OUR’ shows or our larger ‘promotion’ shows (e.g. The Joint or House of Blues). We will discuss with our web-master Tim, about having a side-link with current/upcoming NON-LVJBS shows. More info TBA.
*The Hillbenders (Sunday, Sept. 18th at the E-String) This will be a members-free 3rd Quarter event. ($10)
*Howlin’ Woods Wed., 9/21 @ The Freakin’ Frog (Free)
*Oakhurst wants to play 9/24. This is the same weekend as PowellPalooza and GuitarFish festivals. The group decided to change the date to avoid conflicts.
*Furthur will be at The Joint on Tuesday, October 4th. (See LVJBS meeting date change, below, under ‘Open Floor’)
*The Green will be playing the Aloha Music Fest @ The Silverton, Fri. 10/7. Greg to offer some ad-space on our site to help support this event.
*Mickey Hart Band has booked Sat., 10/22 @ The Hard Rock Café (HRC). They will play some Grateful Dead and their Original music. We will look into a possible opener: That1Guy or Moksha were suggested.
*Leo Nocentelli & The Meters Experience are interested in some Oct., Nov., and Dec. dates. (More info TBA)
*Greensky Bluegrass had a great time with LVJBS and want to play Sunday, 11/6 at the HRC. More info TBA.
*Delta Nove want to come back in November. Possible dates: Sat. 11/6 or Sat. 11/26. Group liked the 11/6 date better, since Thanksgiving weekend occurs on the 26th. Possible venues: HRC, LV Country Saloon, or Binion’s rooftop. We will know more when the date is confirmed.
*Digital Tape Machine are interested in playing Wed., 11/30 @ the HRC. (They are Umphrey’s McGee members’ side-project. Greg to inquire about a price and more info TBA.
*Keller Williams (solo) at the Hard Rock Café (confirmed). Sunday 12/4. This will be an early show. Doors 7pm/Show 8pm. ($17adv/$20day of). There will be $15 pre-sale tickets available at our upcoming members’ meetings.
*Particle (all original members) Thursday, 12/15 @ HRC (Confirmed) ($15adv/$20day of) Looking for an opening act. Group discussed a DJ (Mongo? or Shoe?) More info TBA.
*The Ragbirds (official album release show). Interested in Mon. or Tues., Feb. 6th or 7th. Possible venue: E-String. More info TBA.
*Hot Tuna (interested in Thursday, Jan. 5th) They had a pricey offer. The group will send an offer for a split or lower guarantee. More info TBA.
*Tryptophan (local jam band) wants to play a future show. The group will listen to them. More info TBA.
*Useful Jenkins (from MN) (A friend and fan of, sent us their name for a future show.) More info TBA.
*Vernell Brown Jr. & Friends are interested in a Fall-gig at the E-String. More info TBA.

OPEN FLOOR:
*Meeting locations: We have been catering to the East & West side members for our monthly meetings (Yet, after a quick survey, many of the members who attend the meetings on a regular basis don’t live on the West-side.) The East side meetings are usually at The E-String. We have had some trouble securing a good west-side location. Many of the places can get too noisy for our information to be heard.
Possible west-side meeting spots, as discussed by our members: Redwood Grille (on W. Warm Springs), a Sierra Gold or Big Dogs location, since they often have large meeting rooms, orThe Outpost Saloon. We are asking our members to look around for good meeting spots.
*Local band, Headz or Tailz will play at Choices Pub on Friday, September 16.
*The Pink Floyd Experience will be Sunday, Oct. 23rd @ The Henderson Pavilion.
*OCTOBER’S Members’ Meeting will be on TUESDAY, October 11th @ The E-String, due to the Furthur show, at The Joint, on Tuesday, Oct. 4th.
